Founded in Munich in 1961 as a tax office, Consilia has grown into an interdisciplinary group of audit, tax, legal and consulting companies with more than 175 employees in seven Bavarian and Saxon locations, led by nine managing directors. It is a member of the HLB international network while keeping its own name. A dedicated international page describes two sides of the practice: outbound advice for German clients and support for foreign clients who want to open a representative office or branch, or found a subsidiary, in Germany. For the latter Consilia advises through every stage of market entry and then handles ongoing bookkeeping, payroll, controlling, current tax returns and the required registrations and permits. Financial reporting can be set up under HGB, US GAAP or IFRS, including in English. Other specialisms include healthcare professions, photovoltaic investors, succession, M&A and labour and company law.

For foreign entrants the firm advises on direct import, representative offices, branches, subsidiaries and holding structures, then provides bookkeeping, payroll, controlling, current tax returns, official registrations and permits. General services include financial and payroll accounting via DATEV, annual accounts, corporate and personal tax returns, VAT, statutory audits, financial reporting under HGB, US GAAP or IFRS, transfer pricing and double tax treaty advice, labour and company law, business start-up and succession consulting, and interim management.
