About EXPATTAX

English-speaking expats living and working in Germany are the sole focus of EXPATTAX, a Munich practice founded by tax adviser Thomas Zitzelsberger after his own experience of filing a first return as an expatriate. He has worked in the UK, Ireland and the USA and has spent some 20 years assisting expats in Germany. Each client is assigned a personal consultant who discusses the case in fluent English, and the whole process runs remotely, so clients on assignment or travelling do not need to visit the office. The small team includes qualified accountants and tax assistants with backgrounds in global tax firms, covering German income tax, VAT, cross-border taxation, inheritance tax and bookkeeping. Typical cases are employees on local contracts, freelancers on service contracts and people with foreign income or property abroad. The firm also keeps track of tax office deadlines and correspondence on behalf of its clients.
