About Higgs & Johnson

Higgs & Johnson is a Bahamian law practice whose roots go back to a partnership formed in 1948. Today it works from four offices in the islands: Nassau, Lyford Cay, Marsh Harbour in Abaco and Freeport in Grand Bahama. Its client base is largely cross-border, covering foreign law and accountancy firms, banks, trust companies, investment managers, tourism and residential developers, multinational groups and wealthy families. Practice groups span corporate and commercial law, financial services regulation, tax, private client and wealth planning, trusts and foundations. Company incorporations and ongoing administration are delivered through an affiliated corporate services company that is regulated by the Securities Commission of The Bahamas. The firm is the Bahamas member of the TerraLex legal network. Its tax group handles advisory work, disputes with the revenue authority, indirect taxes, Pillar Two and international reporting such as FATCA and CRS.

Services

Formation and management through the affiliate covers incorporations, registrations and continuations in and out of the jurisdiction, registered agent and registered office services, directorships, nominee and shareholder services, mailbox facilities, help with bank and brokerage accounts, business licence and business name filings, work permit advice, mutual fund structuring and liquidations. The tax group advises on planning, tax disputes, VAT and stamp duty, business licence tax, customs, real property and estate taxes, and information-exchange obligations. A separate private client team sets up trusts, foundations and private trust companies.
