View profile of aperioValue added tax is charged on most sales of goods and services, and a business that passes the registration threshold must register with Revenue and file returns. Revenue sets the thresholds at €42,500 for persons supplying services only and €85,000 for persons supplying goods. A foreign-owned company that sells to Irish or EU customers often has to work out early which side of those lines it sits on.
For a founder from abroad, the practical questions are cross-border ones. Which VAT treatment applies to an invoice sent to a customer in another EU country? Does the company need to register before its first sale? A good firm will ask what you sell, to whom and from where, rather than quote a flat fee first.
On a profile, look for VAT among the listed services, the entity types the firm handles, and whether its clients include exporters, online sellers or contractors. Ask how often returns are prepared and who files them.
Accountanty lists 130 firms offering VAT in Ireland: 122 accounting firms and 8 corporate services providers. Of these, 113 are small, 9 medium and 8 large networks, and 63 say they serve foreign clients. Many are on the Dublin page. The Ireland guide covers the wider setup.

When its turnover passes the registration threshold for what it supplies, or when it makes certain EU purchases or distance sales. A firm can check your position from your expected sales. Ask them to put the answer in writing, with the date registration is needed.
In some cases, yes, but the rules depend on the business and where it sells. This is a question for a firm that handles cross-border VAT. Describe your supplies and customers when you send the request.
It depends on the registration and Revenue's arrangements for the business. Ask the firm which filing frequency applies to you, and whether the fee covers every return or charges for each.
