View profile of aperioCork is the second market for foreign founders in Ireland, with 33 firms that set up and run companies: 31 accounting practices and 2 corporate service providers. Twelve of the 33 say that foreign clients are a particular focus, so overseas owners are served, though less often than in Dublin.
Cork firms are almost all small practices. Thirty-two are small and one is medium-sized, so you will deal with the person who owns the practice and who answers for your accounts. That suits a single-shareholder company and is a closer fit for owner-managed businesses than for groups.

The industries named most often are retail and professional services (12 firms each), then construction and manufacturing (8 each). Engineering, technology and startups follow with 5 each, and contractors and landlords with 4. The mix leans toward trades, production and local services, so a founder planning an engineering or manufacturing business will find firms that already work with them.
Client groups named include sole traders (5 firms), startups, owner-managed businesses, individuals and family businesses (4 each), then contractors, entrepreneurs and small and medium businesses. In terms of legal form, the limited company is named by 22 firms, the sole trader by 12 and the partnership by 11. Unlimited companies and branches are named by 3 firms each, and designated activity companies by 2.
Tax compliance and accounting are offered by all 33 firms, payroll by 32, VAT returns by 31 and corporate secretarial work by 30. Company formation is offered by 27 and audit by 20. Virtual office services are offered by 10 firms and bank account assistance by 6. No firm here offers residency or visa help.
Fifteen firms state English and 3 state Polish, and Russian, German and French by 1 each. A firm that lists no language usually works in English, but ask if you want service in another.
With 33 firms and mostly small practices, the differences that matter are less about size and more about fit. Ask each practice whether it already keeps books for companies with a director who lives abroad, who in the practice signs the annual return and the tax filings, and how it handles the first months of payroll if you hire. A retail or trade business needs stock, VAT and payroll handled well, while a consultancy needs the contracts and the director’s own tax position looked at.
Also ask what happens to the file if the person you deal with leaves, and whether the quote lists formation, secretarial work and accounts as separate lines. A clear written list lets you compare two firms on equal terms, and it shows quickly whether a low monthly figure leaves out work you will need later, such as the yearly return or the first payroll set-up.
The Ireland country guide sets out the legal steps for the whole country. For the larger pool of firms, see Dublin. If you would rather not write to firms one by one, a free quote request lets Accountanty pass your plans to suitable firms.
In Cork, 15 firms work in English and 3 in Polish. Russian, German and French are offered by one firm each. Many firms state no language, so ask directly if you need service in a language other than English.
Yes. Company formation is offered by 27 firms, accounting and tax compliance by all 33, and corporate secretarial work by 30. Ask whether formation and the yearly accounts are quoted together or separately.
Twenty Cork firms offer audit, out of 33. If your company is likely to need one, ask whether the firm that keeps your books can also audit them or whether another practice does it.
Twelve of the 33 firms say that foreign clients are a particular focus. Ask each how it handles a director who lives abroad, and which documents that director must supply.
The legal steps are the same and filings are made online. Dublin has more firms and more that focus on foreign clients. Cork has mostly small practices. Choose on services, language and experience with your kind of business.
