Founded in Amsterdam in 2010 by former Price Waterhouse and Deloitte advisers, Hillbrook is a niche practice for expatriate tax, global mobility and immigration, now with twenty professionals, most of them trained at the large accountancy firms. It works for individuals who have moved to the Netherlands for work, for entrepreneurs starting out in the country or opening a branch of an overseas business, and for employers that hire foreign staff locally or send employees on assignment. Individuals receive Dutch income tax returns, 30% ruling applications, exit and entry meetings and coordination of foreign returns, while US citizens can have their Dutch and US federal and state returns prepared in one process. For employers the firm runs an international payroll that processes the 30% ruling, non-resident employees and foreign social security, and advises on salary splits, tax equalisation and share-based pay across borders.
