View profile of CIS Management B.V.Payroll in the Netherlands starts before the first salary is paid. A company must register as an employer with the Belastingdienst before it employs staff and receives a payroll taxes number; the payroll taxes it then withholds and pays cover wage tax, national insurance and social security contributions and an employer’s health care insurance contribution, as the government’s page on payroll tax and employer registration sets out. Contracts, holiday pay, pensions and any collective labour agreement for your sector all feed into the figures.
Staff recruited from abroad may qualify for the 30% ruling, which needs a decision from the Tax Administration, applies for at most 5 years and requires expertise that is scarce in the Dutch labour market. As of 1 January 2027, the maximum reimbursement falls from 30% to 27%.

View profile of Consulere Finance & ConsultingAsk whether the firm registers the company as an employer and files each payroll return itself. Ask how it handles holiday pay, pension enrolment and expense allowances, and whether a collective labour agreement applies to your staff. If you are hiring from abroad, ask whether it applies for the 30% ruling and how it coordinates with whoever handles permits. Find out what the monthly report to your head office looks like and what the fee per payslip includes.

Yes. Seventy-six firms on Accountanty run payroll in the Netherlands, and most work in English. Agree who approves each monthly run and who releases the salary payments from the company's bank account.
Usually the signed employment contracts, salary and allowance details, each employee's identification and bank account, pension arrangements and the company's registration details. Ask for the onboarding list well before the first payday.
Some do, but many keep the two apart. Check whether permit work for staff from abroad is inside the payroll fee or quoted separately before you compare offers.
