Founded in 1923, KPMG in Sweden is the Swedish member firm of the KPMG network, with a regional presence that also covers Latvia and Lithuania. Its Stockholm office on Vasagatan houses audit and assurance, tax, advisory, law, sustainability and technology teams serving Swedish and international groups. Within the tax practice, a specialist team regularly works with foreign companies starting up business in Sweden. It begins with an introductory meeting, analyses whether the foreign company has a taxable presence, advises on choosing between a branch and a subsidiary and assists with setting up the chosen structure. The team then registers the company with the Swedish Tax Agency for F-tax, VAT and employer purposes and handles ongoing tax compliance. Transfer pricing, employer obligations, social security questions and employment law are covered by the same group, while KPMG Law advises on company formation and corporate governance.
