View profile of Almadani & Co. Attorneys and Legal ConsultantsVAT in Saudi Arabia is administered by ZATCA, the same authority that handles zakat and income tax. A foreign-owned company has to work out whether and when it must register, how to issue invoices in the form the authority expects, how often it files and how to treat sales to customers outside the Kingdom. The rate, the thresholds and the invoicing rules are all set by ZATCA, and a firm should quote them to you with the date they apply rather than from memory.
Ask which accounting or invoicing system the firm works with and whether your current software can produce compliant invoices. Ask how it reconciles VAT with the books each period, who submits the return, how it treats imports and goods held at customs, and what happens when a customer disputes an invoice. A trading company, a contractor and a service business can have quite different VAT positions, so describe your model in the quote request. Tax compliance in Saudi Arabia covers zakat and income tax.
There are 87 firms offering VAT in Saudi Arabia on Accountanty: 48 corporate service providers, 37 accounting firms and two law firms. Sixty-five focus on foreign clients, and manufacturing, healthcare, construction and real estate lead the sectors they name. See Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Al Khobar.

It may. ZATCA sets rules on how invoices are issued and kept. Ask a firm to check your current system before you start trading, and to say what an upgrade or a new tool would involve.
The filing period is set when the company registers and depends on its circumstances. Ask your adviser which period applies to you and who prepares, approves and submits each return.
