Bank account assistance in Denmark

A new Danish company needs its own bank account to take in the share capital, and the authority will not register it until that capital is paid in. Once the company has a CVR number, the official guidance expects it to use MitID, Digital Post and a NemKonto, the account the public sector pays into. For founders abroad, the hard part is often the bank’s own onboarding checks.

Ask an adviser what it does in practice: does it introduce you to a bank, prepare the company papers and the explanation of the owners, or only advise? Ask which banks it has worked with for companies with foreign owners, how long it expects the process to take, and whether you must travel. No firm can promise that an account will be opened.

Accountanty shows four firms in Denmark that help with bank accounts: three accounting firms and one corporate service provider. Three are small and one is medium-sized. English and Danish are each offered by three, and two work in Polish. One is in Copenhagen and one in Aarhus. The Denmark guide covers the capital rules.

Frequently asked questions

Can I open a Danish company bank account from abroad?

It depends on the bank and on your documents. Many banks ask to meet the owners or to see extra papers. Ask an adviser which banks it has used for foreign-owned companies and what each asks for.

Do I need the account before I register the company?

The share capital has to be paid in before registration, so you need a way to receive it. Ask your adviser how this is arranged for a founder who is not in Denmark.

Will an adviser guarantee the account?

No. The bank decides. A good profile describes what the firm prepares and who it introduces you to, not a promise of an outcome.
