View profile of MyTax.lt (UAB Garuda)Citizens of the EU and EEA and of Switzerland can live and work in Lithuania without a work visa, although a longer stay is registered with the authorities. Founders, managers and employees from other countries need a national visa or a temporary residence permit, and the route depends on why they come, for example to run a company, to take up a skilled job or to build a start-up. For innovative founders from outside the EU, Startup Visa Lithuania offers a temporary residence permit for 2 years, with a chance to extend it to 5, and permits for family members.

View profile of MB Vilniaus buhalterių grupėAsk which routes the firm has handled recently and for clients of which nationalities. Ask whether it prepares the business plan and supporting documents, and whether it follows the case with the migration authorities. If your family is moving too, ask how their applications are handled and at what cost. For staff hired from abroad, ask how the firm times the permit, the employment contract and the first payroll run. Ask how its fee relates to the state fees, and what happens if an application is refused.
Accountanty lists 20 firms in Lithuania that help with residence and visas: nine corporate service providers, nine accounting firms and two law firms. Fourteen are small, four medium-sized and two part of large networks. Eighteen work in English, 15 in Lithuanian and 13 in Russian, and 18 name foreign clients as a focus. Transport is the sector named most often, by seven, ahead of fintech, crypto and e-commerce with six each. Eleven publish pricing. Since a founder’s permit usually depends on the company, see company formation in Lithuania.
No permit is needed to live and work there, but a longer stay is registered with the authorities. Founders and staff from outside the EU need a visa or a temporary residence permit.
Residence routes exist for people who come to run a business, with conditions on the company and its activity. A firm can check whether your plans meet them before you apply.
Many do. Ask how the firm coordinates the permit with the employment contract and payroll, since staff from outside the EU cannot usually start work before the permit is granted.
