English-speaking certified public accountants working almost exclusively with foreign-capital companies: that is how Monetics, an Ankara practice operating with the Baran Özongan CPA team, presents itself on its English and Turkish sites. Baran Özongan spent more than five years at Mazars and then set up and ran PwC's accounting services department in Ankara, and the brand was created to offer that experience with foreign-owned companies at a lower cost through technology. For market entry the team forms limited and joint-stock companies, branches, liaison and project offices, coordinates the capital deposit and bank account opening, supplies a temporary or permanent registered address and handles work permits. Ongoing work covers statutory bookkeeping, VAT, withholding and corporate tax returns, payroll on a cost-centre basis with expatriate payroll, monthly reporting packs under group accounting principles, IFRS or US GAAP, and corporate changes such as capital increases, conversions, mergers and liquidations. The firm belongs to a consortium of three Turkish consultancies and is a TÜRMOB member.
