View profile of İhtisas Mali Müşavirlik A.Ş.For a foreign-owned company in Turkey, accounting is the work that keeps every other obligation on time: the books feed the tax returns, the VAT filings, the payroll and the year-end statements. The records and most letters from the tax office are in Turkish, so owners who live abroad usually hand the whole cycle to a local firm and receive their reports in a language they read. The legal form shapes the work. A limited company (Ltd. Şti.), a joint stock company (A.Ş.), a branch and a liaison office each report in their own way, and a firm that knows the form you chose spares you corrections later.

View profile of Smart OutsourcingAsk which documents you send each month and by what date, and whether purchase and sales invoices reach the firm directly from the electronic systems your company uses. Ask in which language and currency the monthly reports arrive, and whether they can follow your group’s reporting format as well as the Turkish one. Find out who your named contact is, and whether that person also deals with the tax office when a question comes up. Ask what the monthly fee covers and what is billed on top, such as payroll, audit support or a change to the company’s records.
Accountanty lists 80 firms in Turkey that offer accounting: 73 accounting firms, five corporate service providers and two law firms. Seventy are small, seven part of large networks and three medium-sized. English is offered by 53 and Turkish by 49, with German at nine. Forty-eight work with branches and 44 with liaison offices, and 44 have a foreign-client focus. Of these firms, 44 are in Istanbul, 24 in Ankara and 12 in Antalya. Filing follows from the books, so see also tax compliance in Turkey.
Ask each firm which records it keeps in Turkish and which reports it can send you in English as well. English is offered by 53 of the 80 firms on this page, and a sample monthly report shows what you would receive.
Fees usually depend on the number of invoices, employees and bank accounts, and on the legal form. Only three of the 80 firms publish pricing, so describe your expected volumes in the request to receive offers you can compare.
Yes. Ask the new firm how it takes over the records, the access to the electronic systems and any open filings, and agree a handover at a month end so that no return falls between the two firms.
