Accountants and corporate service providers in Ankara

Ankara is the capital of Turkey, and the 28 firms Accountanty lists here have a profile of their own. Twenty-seven are accounting firms and one is a law firm, with no corporate service provider among them. Fourteen of the 28 say foreign clients are a focus, half of the city’s list, and the client groups they name lean towards institutions as much as towards private investors.

The size mix is broader than the firm types suggest. Twenty are small practices, four are medium-sized and four belong to large networks. Seventeen give a founding year: the oldest dates from 1956 and the median from 2004.

Who the Ankara firms work for

Five firms name foreign investors and five name domestic and foreign companies as clients. Four work with foreign-capital companies, three with foreign companies and two with foreign investor companies. A few groups appear on Ankara profiles that are rare elsewhere in the Turkish list: two firms name embassies, two associations and two liaison offices, and two say they serve companies based in technoparks. One names Italian companies and one international corporations.

The sectors follow a similar line. Energy, e-commerce and construction are named by three firms each. Oil and gas, defence, foreign trade, technology, IT and start-ups are named by two each, and R&D appears under two labels, alone and together with technoparks, each on two profiles. Single firms mention aviation, infrastructure, real estate and banking. If your company will bid for public work, run a research project or serve a mission, ask a shortlisted firm which clients of that kind it already handles.

Structures and professional titles

Branches are named by 19 Ankara firms and liaison offices by 17, and three firms handle project offices. The limited company appears as Ltd. Şti. on eight profiles and under its English name on six, and the joint stock company (A.Ş.) on eight, with five more under a second spelling. Seven firms handle sole proprietorships, four ordinary partnerships and four free zone companies. Two work with associations and one with a joint venture.

Several profiles name professional standing. Two describe themselves as sworn-in CPA (YMM) firms, and others mention membership of the Ankara chamber or of TÜRMOB. One firm states an independent audit authorisation from KGK and one from SPK, the Capital Markets Board. Ask any firm for its registration details and for the name of the licensed person who signs your filings, and check them before you sign an engagement letter.

Services and languages

Tax compliance is the one service every Ankara firm offers; company formation follows with 25 and bookkeeping with 24. Payroll is offered by 22, VAT by 19 and corporate secretarial work by 17, and 14 provide audit. Residence permits and visas are covered by nine firms. Bank account assistance and a virtual office are each offered by three, so check those lines on the profile if you need them.

English is listed by 17 Ankara firms and Turkish by 16, and one firm works in Italian. No other language appears on the Ankara profiles, so if you need German, Russian or Arabic, look at the Istanbul list, which covers all three. No Ankara firm publishes its prices: describe your activity, staff and invoice volume in the request so a quote can be precise.
