View profile of Eurolink Investment GroupVarna is the second city a foreign founder is likely to consider in Bulgaria, and its accountants look quite different from the ones in the capital. Accountanty has 67 firms here, and 62 of them are accounting firms. Only 2 are corporate service providers and 3 are law firms, so this is a market of bookkeepers and tax advisers rather than of formation specialists who also handle banking and addresses.
That does not make company formation hard to find. 63 firms offer it, 64 offer accounting, all 67 handle tax compliance, 57 run payroll and 56 deal with VAT. What is thin is the cross-border extras: 16 firms offer corporate secretarial support, 10 help with a bank account, 9 offer a virtual office, 7 audit and 5 help with residency. If you need several of these in one place, say so in your request, and check the page for Sofia as well.

View profile of ASB Accounting Services BulgariaConstruction is the industry named by the most firms here, 14, ahead of real estate, e-commerce and agriculture with 9 each and manufacturing with 8. Tourism and restaurants also appear, with 4 firms naming each. That fits a coastal city with a port, seasonal trade and a large stock of property, and it suggests the firms are used to seasonal staff, small hospitality businesses and property-holding companies. A foreign owner of an apartment-letting company or a small seaside business will find firms that know the pattern. A software company will find fewer that name it.
The legal forms follow the national pattern. 21 firms each handle EOOD and OOD companies, 8 handle joint-stock companies (AD) and 4 handle branches of foreign companies. Sole traders are a larger share than in Sofia, with 19 firms naming the ET form, which suits a self-employed person but is rarely the right shell for a non-resident investor. The guide to setting up a company in Bulgaria compares the forms.
Bulgarian is offered by 65 of the 67 firms. English is offered by 25, Russian by 14 and German by 8, with Spanish offered by 4 and French and Italian by 3 each. Of the 67 firms, 19 say they focus on foreign clients. That is a smaller group than in the capital, so expect to read a short list of English-speaking firms rather than to choose among dozens.
Because the registers work only in Bulgarian, according to the European e-Justice Portal, the question for a non-resident is not whether a firm speaks English at the first call but whether it can prepare Bulgarian filings, translate the replies and report to you in a language you read. Ask for a sample of the report you would receive each quarter.
A company registered in Varna files with the same national Registry Agency as one in Sofia, and the Ministry of Economy, Investments and Industry notes that the whole application can be filed electronically with a qualified electronic signature. A Varna firm can therefore serve a company that is registered in Varna but run from abroad. Where it helps most is in person: meeting a notary, handling a bank branch visit, or dealing with a local office when the company has a site on the coast.
Compare firms by what they put in writing: the formation steps they carry out, the registered address, the monthly accounting scope, who files the VAT returns and who is the contact when something goes wrong. Then send a single free quote request and the brief goes to suitable firms. Founders who plan to run staff or goods in the south of the country can also look at Plovdiv, and the company formation page explains what a provider does and what to ask before you sign.
A quarter of the Varna firms, 25 of 67, add English, and 19 name foreign clients as a focus. Bulgarian is the base language of 65 firms, with Russian at 14. German is offered by 8. If you need English reports, ask for a sample before you agree a scope.
Yes. Company formation is on offer from 63 Varna firms. Ask which steps the firm does itself, such as the notarised signature and the registry application, and whether it provides the registered address that the company needs.
Construction is named by 14 firms, and real estate, e-commerce and agriculture by 9 each. Manufacturing is named by 8 and tourism by 4. If your sector is not on that list, ask for a similar client example.
It can be. 64 firms offer accounting, 67 handle tax compliance and 57 run payroll. Bookkeeping is mostly remote, so the city matters less than the firm's reporting and filing routine. Compare scope and response times.
Fewer Varna firms offer these: 10 help with bank accounts and 9 offer a virtual office. Sofia has more of both, so compare the capital's firms if you need a registered address or banking introductions.
The country guide covers the company types, capital, documents and registry filing. This page covers only the firms in Varna. Use the free quote request when you are ready to compare answers from several firms.
