View profile of Aidos Accountancy ServicesCompany formation in Bulgaria is usually handled for foreign founders by a local accounting firm, law firm or corporate services provider. The provider drafts the documents in Bulgarian, arranges the notarised signature and the capital account, files with the Commercial Register, and often stays on as your accountant afterwards. Choosing the right one matters more than the filing itself, because the same firm tends to keep your books, file your VAT returns and deal with the tax authority for years.
This page is about that choice: what a formation provider does, what it needs from you, what a fair quote covers and how to check a firm before you sign. For the legal steps themselves, the documents, capital and fees, read our guide on how to set up a company in Bulgaria.

View profile of E&M Accounting GroupA provider turns your instructions into a registered company. The work usually covers:
The legal requirements behind each of these, with links to the official sources, are set out in our Bulgaria company setup guide.
Accountanty lists 222 firms in Bulgaria that offer company formation. Of those, 185 are accounting firms, 26 are corporate services providers and 11 are law firms. Most are small practices (184), with 29 medium-sized firms and 9 that belong to larger networks.
Each type has a natural strength:
Size matters less than fit. A small firm that works in your language and answers the same day can serve a one-person EOOD better than a network office, while a group with several entities may need a firm that handles audits and consolidated reporting.
A provider can only move as fast as your documents. Expect to be asked for:
Providers run identity checks on new clients, so a provider that asks detailed questions about you and your money is doing its job. Answer fully and early.
Prices vary, so compare quotes line by line rather than by the total. Of the 222 firms on Accountanty that offer company formation, 74 publish some prices. A clear quote separates:
| Item | What to check |
|---|---|
| Official fees | The Registry Agency fee, and whether the filing is electronic or on paper. The ministry’s handbook lists a lower fee for electronic filing. |
| Notary fees | The specimen signature, and any certification of copies. |
| Bank costs | Opening the capital account and the certificate. These follow the bank’s own tariff. |
| Translations and legalisation | Certified translations into Bulgarian, apostilles for documents signed abroad. |
| The provider’s fee | Drafting, filing and follow-up. Ask whether a rejected application is refiled at no extra cost. |
| Address | Registered address for the first year, and the renewal price. |
| Post-registration | VAT registration, payroll set-up, the first month of bookkeeping. |
Watch for a low headline price that leaves out the address, the translations or the bank step. Ask what happens if the bank turns down the account: some providers charge again for a second bank, others don’t.
Since Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026, quotes should be in euro. If a provider still quotes official fees only in leva, ask for the current euro amounts. The official figures are linked in our guide to the legal steps.
A few checks take minutes and save a lot of trouble later.
Accountanty doesn’t rank firms. Our page on how we select firms explains what a listing means.
Much of the formation process can run without you in Bulgaria. Two tools make that possible:
The step most likely to need your presence is the bank. Each bank sets its own rules for foreign founders, so ask the provider at the first call which bank it works with and whether you’ll need to travel. Some firms offer a dedicated bank account assistance service.
Keep copies of everything the provider files. The register and its documents are in Bulgarian, and you’ll want to be able to show your own bank, auditors or tax adviser what was signed.
Registration is the start of the relationship. Most firms that form companies also run them: of the 222 firms offering formation on Accountanty, 215 offer accounting, 217 tax compliance, 200 payroll and 194 VAT services. Fewer cover the specialist work: 69 offer corporate secretarial services, 61 bank account assistance, 59 a virtual office, 41 audit and 33 residency and visa support.
After registration, expect to agree:
Ask for the monthly or annual fee for the first year at the same time as the formation quote. A low formation price paired with a high accounting fee isn’t a saving.
Formation firms on Accountanty are concentrated in three cities. Browse accountants in Sofia, accountants in Varna and accountants in Plovdiv, or compare firms by language and service on each profile. Because much of the work can be done remotely, the firm’s city matters less than its experience with clients like you.
To save time, send one free quote request through Accountanty. We review it and forward it to firms that fit your company type, language and city, and they reply to you directly.
The filing is the easy part. The decision that shapes the next few years is the firm you choose for company formation in Bulgaria: one that explains each fee, handles the bank step, works in your language and can keep your books once the company exists. Get two or three itemised quotes, check the firm in the Commercial Register, and agree the post-registration work before you sign.
You choose a legal form, usually an EOOD or OOD, prepare the founding documents in Bulgarian, have the manager's signature notarised, pay the capital into a Bulgarian bank and file form A4 with the Registry Agency. Our Bulgaria company setup guide walks through each step with the official sources.
No, but it helps to know how many owners there will be, who will manage the company and what it will do. A good provider will explain whether an EOOD, an OOD, a branch or a joint-stock company fits, and the quote will depend on that choice.
Not automatically. Registering in the Commercial Register and registering for VAT are separate steps. VAT registration becomes mandatory once turnover passes the threshold set by the National Revenue Agency, and some businesses register voluntarily earlier. Ask whether the provider's package includes the VAT application.
For an EOOD or OOD you need the founders' and manager's identity documents, founding documents in Bulgarian, the manager's notarised specimen signature, the share capital paid into a Bulgarian bank with the bank's certificate, a registered address in Bulgaria and the beneficial owner details. A licence is needed only for regulated activities.
The total is made up of the Registry Agency fee, notary and bank charges, translations, the registered address and the provider's own fee. Providers price these differently, so ask each one for an itemised quote in euro and check whether accounting after registration is included.
