View profile of EM GroupSliema is a corporate service town. Seven of the nine firms based here are corporate service providers, and only two are accounting firms. Anyone looking for a firm that will hold the registered office, supply a director or company secretary and administer the structure will find more of that kind of provider in Sliema than a plain bookkeeper.
The firms are small to medium: six are small and three are medium, and seven of the nine say they focus on foreign clients. The oldest of the six that state a founding year dates from 1985, and the median is 2006, so some of these practices have worked with overseas owners for a long time.

View profile of Giorgio & AssociatesAviation is named by five firms and yachting by four, and family offices, funds and shipping by three each. Crypto and blockchain businesses are named by two firms each alongside these older sectors, and iGaming and fintech also appear twice. A founder in the digital-asset sector, or one planning a family office, can expect to find firms that say they have worked in that area, though you should ask for examples of comparable clients.
Entity types follow the pattern: limited companies are named by five firms, trusts by three, and holding companies, foundations and private foundations by two each. One firm handles SICAVs, which are investment-fund companies. Client groups include investors, private clients, international corporations and institutional investors, and one firm says it serves clients across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Eight of nine firms offer company formation, VAT and corporate secretarial services; seven do accounting and bank account assistance; six run payroll. Only one offers audit, so if your company needs audited accounts, ask whether the firm works with an independent auditor.
English is offered by seven firms. Italian is offered by three, French, Chinese and Maltese by two each, and Russian and Polish by one each. Some firms hold an agent approval for Malta’s residence and citizenship programmes, so residence applications can run alongside the company set-up.
For the steps of registering a company, use the guide to setting up a company in Malta. If your priority is the monthly accounts and VAT rather than structuring, Birkirkara has the largest accounting group, and Msida has four accounting firms that all offer audit. Firms serving Italian speakers are on the Italian-speaking accountants page. To have a request reviewed and passed on to suitable firms, send one free quote request.
