View profile of A2COBirkirkara is where Malta’s largest cluster of accounting practices sits: 28 firms are based here, and 16 of them are accounting firms rather than law firms or pure corporate service providers. For a foreign founder that matters, because the work after incorporation (bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll, the yearly accounts) is what a company needs every month, and this is the town where that kind of practice is easiest to find.
The mix is wider than a single trade. Nine firms are corporate service providers and three are law firms, and the sizes run from fourteen small practices to eight medium firms and six that belong to large international networks. That spread lets a one-person start-up and a group with several subsidiaries both find a firm of a suitable scale without leaving the town.

Ask who the clients are and iGaming comes first, named by ten firms, followed by aviation (nine), yachting (seven) and financial services (seven). Fintech and shipping appear six times each. Those are the sectors that brought many foreign-owned companies to Malta, and firms here describe the same pattern in their own client work: the founder behind a gaming operator, an aircraft-leasing structure or a yacht-owning company is a familiar visitor.
On entity types, limited companies and trusts are each named by eleven firms, partnerships by eight and foundations by seven. Six firms also handle branches of foreign companies, which suits an overseas business that wants to operate in Malta without creating a separate subsidiary. Family businesses, expatriates, entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals are the client groups named most often.
Twenty of the 28 firms focus on foreign clients, and 27 offer company formation. Services after formation are covered too: 26 do accounting, 25 handle VAT, 23 do corporate secretarial work and 21 run payroll. English is offered by 19 firms; Maltese, Italian, German, Greek, Chinese and Russian are each offered by two or three, so a founder who prefers to work in another language has a few choices but should ask early.
Some firms in Birkirkara hold an authorisation from the Malta Financial Services Authority as a company service provider, which Maltese law requires before anyone can form companies or act as a director or secretary for others. Ask any firm that offers to incorporate a company for you which authorisation it holds and what it covers. Fifteen of the firms audit, so you can also ask whether the practice that keeps your books is allowed to audit them, or whether a separate auditor will be needed.
The legal side of registration is covered in the guide to setting up a company in Malta. If you would rather work with a provider that does the whole job, see company formation in Malta. Founders who want firms in the capital can compare Valletta, and those who want a smaller group can look at St Julian’s or San Gwann. To have your request reviewed and passed to suitable firms, use the free quote request.
Sixteen of the 28 firms are accounting firms, nine are corporate service providers and three are law firms. Fourteen are small practices, eight are medium firms and six belong to large international networks, so most company sizes are covered.
Yes. Twenty-seven of the 28 firms offer company formation, and 23 also provide corporate secretarial services. Check that the firm holds the authorisation Maltese law requires of company service providers before it acts for you.
English is offered by 19 firms. Maltese and Italian are each offered by three, and German, Greek, Chinese and Russian by two each. If you need another language, say so in your quote request so the firms can answer.
Most do. Twenty-five firms handle VAT, 26 do accounting, 27 do tax compliance and 21 run payroll. Fifteen also offer audit, which is useful if your company has to file audited accounts.
Valletta, St Julian's, Sliema, Ta' Xbiex, Naxxar, San Gwann, Msida, Mosta, Pieta and Qormi all have their own pages. Valletta is the place to look if you want a law firm, since lawyers make up over half of the firms there.
