View profile of The Sovereign GroupResidency and visa questions arise when a founder or employee from outside the EU wants to live and work in Malta, or when an EU citizen wants to register as resident. The routes differ by nationality, purpose and length of stay, and permits are issued by government agencies, not by firms. What a firm can do is prepare the application, check that the company side is in order, and keep the file moving.
Ask which permit types the firm handles in general terms: work permits for employees, self-employed or business routes, and residence programmes for individuals. Some practices act as authorised agents for a specific programme; check the licences declared on a profile and ask the firm to explain what authority it holds. Ask who prepares the supporting documents, what happens if an application is refused, and how fees are split between the firm and the authority.
Accountanty lists 85 firms in Malta that offer residency and visa support: 39 accounting firms, 28 corporate services providers and 18 law firms. 64 firms work in English, 16 in Italian and 14 in Maltese, while 77 report foreign clients among theirs. Many name individuals relocating to Malta, expatriates and high net worth clients. See the Malta guide for the company steps, or compare practices in Sliema and Valletta.

View profile of JD Company Service Provider (JD-CSP)Employers can often apply for permits for staff they intend to hire, subject to the authority's conditions. Rules differ by nationality and role, so ask a firm to confirm the route before you plan a start date.
No. Permits are decided by the competent government agency. A firm prepares and submits the application, tracks it and advises on conditions. Check which authority the firm says it acts for.
Not automatically. Owning a company does not by itself give a right to live in Malta. Residence status follows its own rules, so ask for the permit route to be assessed apart from the company set-up.
General information, not legal or tax advice. Rules, rates and fees change: check them with the official sources linked on this page or with a qualified adviser before you act.
