View profile of Scordis, Papapetrou & Co LLCNicosia is the administrative centre of Cyprus, and it is where the company registry sits: the Department of the Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property has its address in Nicosia. Founders do not need to be in the capital to register a company, but the 80 firms based here work closest to the authority that files and keeps the records, and they are the largest group of accountants in the country.
The balance in the city is different from the coast. Fifty-two firms are accounting firms, 26 are corporate service providers and only two are law firms, so Nicosia suits a founder who mainly wants accountants rather than lawyers. Sixty-four are small, ten are medium and six belong to large international networks. Thirty-six of them state a founding year, with the oldest dating from 1922 and the median at 1998.

View profile of CosmoServeAudit is unusually strong: 58 firms offer it, compared with 56 of 93 in Limassol, and VAT is offered by 76 and accounting and tax compliance by 79 each. Sixty-nine firms handle company formation, 65 payroll, 55 corporate secretarial work and bank account assistance, 43 residence and visa support and 37 a virtual office.
Shipping is named by 23 firms, funds by 18 and real estate by 17. Family offices (eight), crypto (seven), construction (seven) and start-ups (seven) also appear, alongside fintech and technology. Fifty-eight firms focus on foreign clients, and the client groups they name include multinational groups, international groups, high-net-worth individuals and international businesses.
Branches of foreign companies are named by sixteen firms, which suits an overseas business that wants a presence in Cyprus without a separate subsidiary. Partnerships (eighteen), holding companies (seventeen), limited companies (27) and trusts (28) round out the entity types.
English is offered by 40 firms and Greek by 19, so a Greek-language relationship is easier to find here than on the coast. Russian is offered by ten firms, Spanish by four, and German, French and Romanian by two each. Several firms cite membership of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus, the ACCA or the ICAEW.
A firm based near the registry is not automatically faster, because filings are made online, but it does mean the people you speak to deal with the registry every week. When you compare firms, ask which of them handles name approval, the incorporation filing, the beneficial owner declaration and the first tax and VAT registrations as a single package, and which hand parts of that to a separate lawyer. Also ask who will file the annual return and the audited financial statements, and what the firm does when a filing is late.
Cyprus keeps a public list of approved administrative service providers maintained by the securities regulator, so if a firm offers trust, nominee or similar services, you can check it there. For the legal path from name approval to filing, use the guide to setting up a company in Cyprus. Providers that handle the whole formation are on company formation in Cyprus; for a coastal alternative see Limassol or Larnaca. One free quote request can reach several of these firms.
