What the cost of a company in the Isle of Man is made of
The Isle of Man company formation cost starts with a choice between two company laws, because each needs different people around the company. A traditional company under the Companies Act 1931 has at least two individual directors, a company secretary and a registered office on the island. A company under the Companies Act 2006 can have one director, which may be a corporate body, but it is run through a registered agent holding a Class 4 licence from the Financial Services Authority.
The Companies Registry fees are the same for both. Standard incorporation costs GBP 100 and is done within 48 hours of receiving the documents; a 2 hour service costs GBP 250 and a while-you-wait service GBP 500, each replacing the standard fee rather than adding to it. Every year the annual return costs GBP 380 when filed on time, rising to GBP 480 or GBP 630 when late.
The firms’ share is harder to see in advance. Only two firms publish a formation price and only three an accounting price, which is too few for a range, so the directors, secretary, registered office or registered agent, and the yearly tax return all need a quote. Ask each firm which Act it proposes, and why, before comparing totals.
The calculator below shows the Manx registry fees for either Act; for the firms, read the Isle of Man guide or company formation in the Isle of Man, and request quotes with the structure you have in mind.
