What the cost of a company in Ireland is made of
The State fee is a minor part of the cost to register a company in Ireland. The Companies Registration Office (CRO) takes EUR 50 for an electronic Form A1, and an optional name reservation costs EUR 25. The CRO aims to issue the certificate within ten working days of complete documents, or five under the Fás Phráinn scheme with a CRO-approved standard constitution.
The larger costs come from three requirements that a founder living outside the EEA may not meet alone. One director must be resident in the EEA, unless the company holds a EUR 25,000 bond valid for at least two years, and what a bank or insurer charges for it is not published. A sole director needs a separate company secretary: 8 firms publish yearly starting prices between EUR 250 and EUR 296 for that role. A physical registered office in the State is offered by 11 firms from EUR 250 to EUR 349 a year. Acting as resident director needs a quote, as too few firms publish a price.
For formation, starting prices from 19 firms run from EUR 197 to EUR 325, and 14 of them do not say whether the CRO fee is included. Yearly, the annual return costs EUR 20 when filed on time, and accounting starting prices from 13 firms sit between EUR 1,500 and EUR 2,700.
