Accountants for foreign clients in Turkey

Foreign founders in Turkey follow the same rules as domestic investors, but they must first obtain a potential tax identity number from the tax office. Firms that focus on foreign clients are used to owners who live elsewhere, read little or no Turkish and want to know how the Turkish rules fit with those at home. The company may be a subsidiary, a branch or liaison office, or a small business run by an expat. What changes is less the work itself than the way it is delivered: documents signed from abroad, reports in another language, and a contact who explains a tax office letter instead of simply passing it on.

What to ask a firm that serves foreign clients in Turkey

Ask what the firm needs from each shareholder in the first month, and which documents issued in your country must carry an apostille and a sworn translation. Ask whether a power of attorney lets the firm act for you. Ask who your contact is, which language that person works in and how quickly replies come. Ask which parts of the work stay in-house and which go to outside partners, such as the bank meeting, a residence permit or a statutory audit. Ask how the firm cooperates with your home adviser on dividends and other payments leaving Turkey.

Frequently asked questions

Can I own and run a Turkish company while living abroad?

Many owners do, with a local firm keeping the books, filing the returns and receiving official post. Ask which steps, such as opening the bank account or signing before a notary, may still need you or a representative in person.

Which languages do firms for foreign clients in Turkey offer?

English is offered by 46 of the 50 firms, German by nine, Russian by eight and Arabic by five. Name your language in the request so that it reaches firms able to work in it.

What happens after I send a request through Accountanty?

Accountanty reviews the request and forwards it to suitable firms in Turkey, which reply to you directly with their offers. Sending it costs nothing, and you decide which firm, if any, to work with.
