View profile of Mac AuditorAn audit is an independent review of a company’s financial statements by a registered auditor. In Poland it can be required by law for some companies and requested voluntarily by others, for instance when a foreign parent needs audited figures for group reporting or a bank or investor asks for them. Whether your company must be audited depends on its size and form, so confirm this with the firm rather than assuming.
The accountant who keeps your books should not also be the auditor of those books, so ask any firm that offers both how it separates the two roles. Look in the profile for registered auditor status, for the sizes of company the firm audits and for the languages in which it reports. If the parent company follows another accounting framework, ask whether the firm can handle the conversion or reporting package.
Audit is the smallest service group on Accountanty. Only 40 firms offer it in Poland: 38 accounting firms, 1 corporate services provider and 1 law firm. Nine are large networks and 22 are small practices, with 9 medium firms between them. English is offered by 34 and German by 13, which suits groups with German parents. Compare firms through the Warsaw page, and read accounting in Poland for the bookkeeping that comes first.

View profile of MT Chartered Accountants Sp. z o.o. (MTCA)Some companies must have their statements audited by law, depending on size and form. A voluntary audit is also possible. Ask a registered auditor to check the current thresholds against your company's figures before the year closes.
Generally independence rules prevent a firm from auditing its own bookkeeping. Large networks often separate the teams, while a small practice may refer the audit elsewhere. Ask how each firm manages this conflict.
Well before the year end. An auditor who visits only after the books close has fewer options if a problem appears, and fieldwork for many firms is scheduled months ahead.
