Residency and visas in Poland

Owning a Polish company does not give you the right to live in Poland, and living in Poland does not require you to own a company. The two questions are separate, and the answer for a founder depends on nationality. The Polish business portal explains that EU and EEA citizens can set up any business form, while other foreigners may need a qualifying residence title for some of them.

Firms offering residency and visa support help with the application file, appointments, translations and the link between a work or residence permit and the company that employs or is owned by the applicant. Immigration advice is a regulated field, so ask who is authorised to give it and who files the papers.

Look in the profile for the nationalities and languages the firm serves, whether it handles permits for employees as well as owners, and what a quote covers. Ask about processing times only as an estimate; the authority decides them.

Accountanty lists 48 firms for residency and visas in Poland: 36 accounting firms, 9 corporate services providers and 3 law firms. Languages on offer include English at 35 firms, Russian at 21 and Ukrainian at 20. Read the country guide for the company route, or compare the firms in Krakow.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Polish company give me a residence permit?

No. A company and a residence title are separate. Ownership can support an application in some cases, but the permit is decided by the immigration authorities on their own criteria. Ask a firm to explain how your situation would be assessed.

Can a firm file my application for me?

Firms can prepare the documents, book appointments and represent you in some steps, while some steps require your attendance. Ask exactly which parts the firm will do and which you must do in person.

Do I need residence to be a director of a Polish company?

The corporate side and the immigration side are different questions. Confirm with a firm which role you will hold, and whether any residence or work authorisation is needed for it given your nationality.
